What you probably don’t think of are kids that haven’t even reached the legal drinking age, but with the entertainment industry growing as it is, millionaires are more and more often in their teens. We live in a society that values beautiful voices, strong acting skills, entertainers that are willing to work as hard as they play. We pay these actors, singers, and dancers hefty sums of money to keep our televisions, stereos, and movie screens on, making us laugh, smile, and cry along with their every word. Though their maturity and appearances might help us forget the fact that these performers are still in their teens, there is no doubt but that these not-yet-legal entertainers have already earned more than what most of us will save in a lifetime.
Rihanna: Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, this Barbadian beauty captured the airwaves with her unstoppable “Umbrella“, placing her squarely at the top of the music charts. At only 19, Rihanna has released three albums and her latest, Good Girl Gone Bad sold more than 200,000 copies in its first two weeks, cementing her place as an “It Girl”. Such a status has led to additional income in promos for Clinique, CoverGirl, Reebok, and Secret deodorant.
Daniel Radcliff: Perhaps he should be rechristened as “The Boy Who Made Millions”, because Daniel Radcliffe, the face of Harry Potter, has millions and millions in his 18-year-old pocket. As the richest teen in the United Kingdom and the second-richest teen in the United States, this boy wizard is said to be earning $50 million for the next two Harry Potter movies.
Emma Roberts: Though her aunt, Julia Roberts, may be one of the all time best-paid female celebrities, Emma is making her fortune all on her own. Along with her hit Nickelodeon show, this 16 year-old actress has several movies to put on her resume, as well, such as Aquamarine and Nancy Drew.
Miley Cyrus: The face of Hannah Montana, Miley Cirus has accomplished much in her 14 years. With one of the most popular children’s shows on TV today, Miley’s fans love her for her acting and singing, evidenced the fact that her upcoming “Best of Both Worlds” tour sold out in all 54 locations. In fact, demand for her tickets was so huge that venues sold out in as little as 4 minutes, prompting one ticket in Charlotte, North Carolina, to sell for $2,565. Talk about bank.
Hayden Panettiere: Just-turned-18 Hayden plays a self-regenerating cheerleader on the hit show Heroes, but in real life, she is an intelligent young businesswoman. Estimated to make $2 million next year, this teen sure knows how it’s done.
Dakota Fanning: At only 13, Dakota Fanning has 19 movies under her belt with 4 more on schedule for 2008. In 2002, when she was only 8 years old, Dakota was the youngest person to every be presented with a coveted SAG award. Today, she continues her successful acting career and is well on her way to being one of the richest young people in the world.
Joss Stone: This 20 year-old soul, blues, and R&B singer may hail from England, but she is known all over the world for her amazing voice. A triple threat, Joss is also a songwriter and actress, and has risen to become Britain’s second-richest teen. She is estimated to be worth more than $12 million.
Hilary Duff: She rose to fame as Lizzie McGuire, one of Nickelodeon’s most famous characters, but she is now known as a 20 year-old that has conquered both singing and acting, adding fashion to her growing list of successes. Her fortune is currently estimated at over $25 million, with an average annual income of about $12 million.
Vanessa Hudgen: With estimated earnings of over $2 million, this High School Musical singer has shot to stardom quicker than she could blink. She began her acting career in 2003 in the films Thirteen and Thunderbirds, but this 18 year-old actress is best known for her voice… and perhaps a certain photograph.
Abigail Breslin: Not even in her teens yet, 10 year-old Abigail Breslin has funded her bank account with an excess of $1.5 million, thanks to her acting career. You may recognize her from Raising Helen or Little Miss Sunshine, but if you don’t, you’ll be sure to hearing her name for many years to come.
Tyler James Williams: As the face of a young Chris Rock on Everybody Hates Chris, Tyler has also acted on Sesame Street, Little Bill, and Unaccompanied Minors, earning him his first $1.2 million on the way to many more.
